Male Dog Neutering Advice.

Neutering of male dogs.

This is also called castration. Both testicle are removed.

    • No paternity suits!

    • Reduced unwanted behaviour such as cocking their legs inappropriately to mark their territory, less aggression, less frustration.

    • Cancer prevention. Obviously they can’t get testicular cancer but the risk of prostrate problems including cancer and anal adenomas is also greatly reduced.

    • Neutered animals put weight on more easily.

    • Large breed dogs can have bone growth disrupted. The age at which neutering is done influences this, and we would advise you discuss this with your vet at the pre op consultation.

  • We perform our castrations from Monday to Friday at our Preston Farm Hospital and our Hartburn and Nunthorpe branches.

To book, please call the surgery on 01642 604555 or your usual surgery number.

Our team will book you an appointment for a pre-op  check for your dog, where you will have the opportunity to discuss the options further.
